1. Watter nut het ‘n konferensie soos Faith & Reason?

“[W]e need to become people who want to understand our "homeland" simply because we love the Lord and want to know him better. When we have gotten this far, we are ready to absorb the depths of the Christian faith which in turn makes us ready to share it with others.” - Michael J. Murray

2. Hoekom is dit so belangrik om te weet of die Bybel betroubaar is?

“It all comes down to this. If the Bible is not reliable, then Christianity is a hoax. And unlike any other religion, Christianity stands or falls based on the historical truth of an event in history: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If this event did not happen as reported in the New Testament, if Jesus did not truly, literally, and physically rise from the dead (not figuratively, and not spiritually, but literally), then, as the Apostle Paul put it, “Your faith is worthless…We [Christians] are of all men most to be pitied” (1 Cor. 15:17,19)” - Paul K. Hoffman

3. Hoekom is dit belangrik om oor Jesus as die Seun van God te praat?

“Christians tend to forget how difficult it is to believe the doctrine that Christ is divine. It is, quite literally, the most astonishing idea that any mind has ever conceived of in all of history. This man, this carpenter’s son who was born from a woman like any other man, who had to learn to speak and walk, who got tired and hungry, who suffered pain and weakness and death as a crucified criminal, is God, the infinitely perfect, eternal, transcendent Spirit who created the universe! I will not try to prove the doctrine obvious, easy, or probable. It is anything but. I have great sympathy for the non-Christian who understands what the doctrine means and shakes his head in amazement, wondering how two billion otherwise sane and rational people, many of them among the most intelligent people in the world, can believe such a thing. That very puzzle should make it impossible for any honest truth seeker to do what most non-Christians do: dismiss the idea as either myth or exaggeration, something not to be taken seriously… Whatever else it is, the doctrine is serious. If it is not ultimate truth, it is ultimate lunacy. The non-Christian who thinks Christians insane is far closer to Christian faith than the non-Christian who thinks Christians are just nice people who happen to believe some unimportant, meaningless piece of ancient theological nonsense. Those who crucified Christ for blasphemy were closer to faith than modern humanists who praise what he said about others, about how they should live, but ignore what he said about himself.” - Peter Kreeft

4. Wat is geloof?

“It is critical at this juncture to make sure you have a correct understanding of 'faith'. Faith is too commonly misunderstood as "wishful thinking, repeated often enough and loudly

enough that it eventually numbs the speaker faith that (a) doesn’t even see the evidence supporting it--much less USING that evidence to increase 'peace of mind'!; and/or (b) ignores all the contrary data. The faith I am talking about is 'trust' – confidence in the character of the living God. It implies a belief in the God's existence, but this is inadequate by itself.” - Glenn Miller

“Believe in God and you will have to face hours when it seems obvious that this material world is the only reality; disbelieve in Him and you must face hours when this material world seems to shout at you that it is not all. No conviction, religious or irreligious, will, of itself, end once and for all [these doubts] in the soul. Only the practice of Faith resulting in the habit of Faith will gradually do that.” C.S. Lewis

5. Hoekom glo baie mense steeds nie?

“There is enough evidence to convince the honest and sincere seeker, but there is not enough evidence to force a man against his will when he is determined to reject it.” - Scott Tucker
