In others words, while our arguments or apologetics, as used to demonstrate the truth of Christian faith, will not in of themselves bring people to Christian commitment (the Holy Spirit does that - 1 Corinthians 12:3), nevertheless if what we are proclaiming is historically, factually or intellectually indefensible (i.e. it is not true), then we are not only deceiving others, but ourselves, and the whole missionary and evangelistic enterprise is both a sham and a shame.
